If you weren't born in Decessus, the only way to get there during 11 months out of the year is through this pass. It's fairly high, and fairly cold, covered in snow most of the time.

In the warmer parts of the year, this clearing has a small stream running through the center of it. It's the first thing a new comer will find when entering Decessus. Usually, there is a stallion or two just waiting for a stranger to come along.

Few here believe in dying of natural causes. A soft, enlongated death is rarely wished on one's worst enemy. Therefor, when a horse decides it's his time, this is where he comes. It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.

When a horse is exiled, this is generally his or her only place to go. Even the nomadic lands do not welcome outcasts. There is very little food here and less water. Few last for any ammount of time.

Anyone, except exiles, are welcome in the nomadic lands. This is the only large body of drinking water in Decessus. During times of draught, all three herds, plus all of the loners, are forced to gather here. Tensions run high.

Nothing grows here. It is said that thousands of years ago, the gods became angry with the equine. They caused lightening to strike the ground, killing everything with a mile radius. This is just a foal's tale, but the name stuck.

It is unusual for a mare and foal to be kicked out of a herd. These are the only exiles not confined to the wastelands. Stallions are rarely permitted entry here, as it is a safe place.

These make up the majority of the central, or nomadic, lands. Nothing here is claimable by any stallion based on years of tradition. Any loner is welcome, provided he or she has not been exiled.

There are no 'beaches' in the east. The sea water constantly smashes against a sheer wall of earth up and down the coastline for as far as one can see.

In reality, these are simply the most southern mountains. During the warmest part of the year, a very small, very high, very cold pass will open through the mountains. Rarely is it used.

The mountains' location causes part of the eastern lands to be a desert. It's not a particularly brutal one, but it hardly ever rains here and the ground is mostly a soft sand. Dust storms are commonplace.

This deciduous forest is shared with the southern lands, although they call it something completely different. It got it's name because this part is ripe with a small, poisonous, red berry.

Technically, this forest reaches up into the mountains and boarders the wastelands. However, there it is too thick for a horse to live in. Down here, however, the pine trees grow far enough apart to provide cover and allow a little foliage to grow beneath them.

Since the sun sets in the west, directly over the western oceans, the water appears to catch fire and burn until the sun disappears completely, hence the name of the shoreline.

It is said that Alafia was a great stallion and the hills were named after him. Whether that is true or not, no one alive knows. However, the hills are covered in alfalfa, wheat, and corn. Most likely, at one time, the area was the human's farmland.

This fresh water river runs from Halfmoon Lake through the southern part of the western lands and eventually empties in the ocean. There are several islands and deltas along it's length. However, the water itself is very shallow. In the dryest part of the year, it has been known to dry up completely.

Really, this is just the southern part of the rolling plains. However, these have been claimed by the southern herd and will remain within their territory for the rest of time.

There is a small island off the southern coast. It's close enough that a strong horse can swim to it. It's not very large, but completely free of predators. It could possibly sustain the entire population of Decessus for a few days.

Just over half of this forest lies in the southern lands. The other part is in the east, though they call it something different. There aren't many rose bushes here, but this is the only place they grow.

Easilly the prettiest place on the peninsula, the white beach stretches along it's southern coast. The water here is crystal clear, but of course, undrinkable. Blood has been spilled many times over this land alone.
